Course Description

The French course is specifically designed for students learning French as a foreign language. Its primary aim is to develop effective communication skills in practical contexts. The course focuses on the four language skills of listening, reading, speaking, and writing, and progressively builds upon these skills throughout the programme. In addition, the course provides insights into the culture of French-speaking countries, promoting positive attitudes towards language learning and intercultural understanding.

Course Objectives

• Develop language proficiency to effectively communicate in French at level A2 with elements of level B1.
• Gain insights into the culture and society of French-speaking countries and communities.
• Foster awareness of language and language learning processes.
• Encourage positive attitudes towards speakers of other languages and cultivate intercultural empathy.
• Provide an enjoyable and intellectually stimulating learning experience.
• Develop transferable skills such as memorisation and inference drawing, complementing other areas of the curriculum.

Course Outline

The course content is organised into five comprehensive topic areas that serve as contexts for vocabulary acquisition, grammar study, and language structures. These topic areas provide students with valuable insights into French-speaking countries and communities:

Learning Methodologies
