The Starscollege Level 5 Extended Diploma in Psychology is designed for learners aged 18 and above. Entry profiles include a relevant Level 3 Diploma or equivalent, GCE Advanced level in 2 subjects or equivalent, and mature learners (over 21) with relevant management experience. Non-native English speakers must provide evidence of English language competency.
The Starscollege Level 5 Extended Diploma qualifications are equivalent to Higher National Diplomas (HND) and Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree programme, representing practical knowledge, skills, capabilities, and competences.
The Starscollege Level 5 Extended Diploma in Psychology consists of twelve mandatory units, 240 credits, 2400 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT), and a minimum of 1200 Guided Learning Hours (GLH). To achieve this qualification, learners must achieve 240 credits, 120 at Level 4 (6 units), and 120 at Level 5 (6 units).
The Level 4 units include The Scope of Psychology, Introduction to Social and Developmental Psychology, Biopsychology, The Development of Attachments, Processes of Human Memory, and Research Methods and Investigating Psychology. The Level 5 units include Psychological Approaches to Depression and Schizophrenia, Individual Differences: Intelligence; Personality and Criminology, Visual Perception, Social Psychology: pro and anti-social behaviour, The Diversity of Addiction, and Contemporary Issues and Debates in Psychology.
The qualification is designed for two academic years of full-time study, with flexibility for part-time and distance learning. It is delivered face-to-face, through lectures, tutorials, seminars, distance, online by approved centres only.
All units are internally assessed and externally verified by Starscollege. To pass a unit, learners must demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet all assessment criteria.
Success in our English-taught qualifications requires learners to possess a sufficient level of English language skills. Applicants must demonstrate English language comprehension equivalent to IELTS (International English Language Testing System) 5.5 to be eligible for enrollment in our programs.
Successful completion of the Starscollege Level 5 Extended Diploma in Psychology provides opportunities for academic progression, including entry to a Level 6 Diploma qualification in a related field or direct employment in a wide range of careers.
