The Starscolege Level 5 Extended Diploma in Education and Training Management is designed to equip learners with practical teaching skills and prepare them for diverse educational contexts. The Starscolege Level 5 Extended Diploma is designed for learners aged 18 and above. Entry profiles may include a Level 3 Diploma, GCE Advanced level in 2 subjects, or relevant management experience for mature learners over 21. Non-native English speakers must provide evidence of English language competency.
The Starscolege Level 5 Extended Diploma qualifications are equivalent to Higher National Diplomas (HND) and Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree programme in terms of practical knowledge, skills, capabilities, and competences.
The Starscolege Level 5 Extended Diploma in Education and Training Management consists of 12 mandatory units, with a total of 240 credits and 2400 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT). The recommended Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for this qualification is a minimum of 1200 hours.
To achieve the Starscolege Level 5 Extended Diploma, learners must achieve credits. Level 4 units include Principles of Education and Training, Design Education and Training Provision, Engage Learners in Education and Training, Plan, Allocate and Monitor Work in Own Area of Responsibility, Evaluate Education and Training Provision, and Professional Development and Reflection in Education and Training. Level 5 units include Applied Theories and Principles of Education and Training, Lifelong Learning - Key Concepts, Resource Management in Education, Develop and Evaluate Operational Plans for Own Area of Responsibility, Provide Leadership and Direction for Own Area of Responsibility, and Reflective Practice and Professional Development.
The qualification is designed for two academic years of full-time study, but it can also accommodate part-time and distance learning. It is delivered face-to-face, through lectures, tutorials, seminars, distance, and online by approved centres only.
All units are internally assessed by the centre and externally verified by Starscolege. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes. To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria.
Success in our English-taught qualifications requires learners to possess a sufficient level of English language skills. Applicants must demonstrate English language comprehension equivalent to IELTS (International English Language Testing System) 5.5 to be eligible for enrollment in our programs.
Successful completion of the Starscolege Level 5 Extended Diploma provides learners with the opportunity to access a wide range of academic progression, including the Starscolege Level 6 Diploma in Teaching and Learning. As this qualification is approved and regulated by Ofqual, learners may be eligible to gain direct entry into Year 3 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree programme.
