Course Description

The Mathematics course aims to develop learners' mathematical ability as a key life skill and provide a strong basis for further study of mathematics or to support skills in other subjects. Throughout this course, learners will develop their competence, confidence, and fluency in using mathematical techniques, both with and without a calculator. This course cultivates mathematical understanding, promotes problem-solving in various contexts, and emphasises effective presentation and interpretation of results.

Course Objectives

The objectives of this course are to enable students to develop an understanding of mathematical principles, concepts, and methods in a way that encourages confidence, provides satisfaction and enjoyment, and develops a positive attitude towards mathematics. Students will develop a feel for numbers, apply mathematics in everyday situations, analyse and solve problems, communicate mathematically, reason logically, and appreciate patterns and relationships. The course also aims to provide a foundation for further study of mathematics or for other disciplines.

  • 2. Algebra: Algebra and graphs, Coordinate geometry
  • 3. Shape and space: Geometry, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Vectors and transformations
  • 4. Probability and Statistics: Probability, Statistics
